Having worked in the building trades for over 30 years, we have hands-on experience in effectively every facet of residential construction. In 1991 Thangmaker Construction was founded as a remodeling company with focus on environmental concerns.

In 1993 we built the first load bearing straw bale building in Texas. Since then, we have built or helped build over 40 straw bale buildings. Natural Home and Southern Living magazines have featured one of our projects.

We provide professional consultation service for architects and builders wanting to interface straw bales with conventional construction. We also provide consultation and facilitate workshops for those wanting to build their own straw bale home.

In 1998 we had the honor of traveling to China to help build a straw bale school. In 1999 we helped build a straw bale ecolodge in the remote bush country of Alaska. We went to Peru in 2001 and helped build and open an orphanage.

Thangmaker's primary focus and intention is natural building. By choosing building materials that are more sustainable, such as straw, bamboo, earth, and reclaimed and unmilled timbers, we lessen the impact on the environment of building a home as well as create a more human friendly atmosphere.
